Tanagh Project Continues to Snowball

At the end of May 2011 a total of 1282 youth had been ministered to through the new project at Tanagh near Cootehill in Co Cavan. By the end of the school term it is estimated that SSCC's Adventure Retreats Ireland will have carried out over 35 retreats to youth from 10 to 19 across the catchment area of the programme. The retreats which have been described as 'fresh' and 'cutting edge' are part of a concerted effort by the Irish English Province not only to minister to the future of our Irish Church but to highlight the Congregation to young people. As we now evaluate the programme for 2011/12 we would encourage those schools and colleges thinking about using the programme for next year to contact us with notice of intent. Silent Retreat - Bishop Brendan Comiskey SS.CC.

FOLLOWING JESUS CHRIST TODAY: DOES
IT HAVE TO BE SO COMPLCATED? 5 Day Silent Retreat with Bishop Comiskey

Emmaus Retreat House Swords August 16-21 2011

Pope John XXIII once wrote in his diary: “The older I grow the more
clearly I perceive the dignity and winning beauty of simplicity in thought,
conduct and speech; a desire to simplify all that is complicated and to treat
everything with the greatest naturalness and clarity. I must strip my vines of
all useless foliage and concentrate on what is truth, justice and charity.”

What attracts people to Jesus Christ is the simplicity of his teaching.
Whenever he was asked for his great secret of how to live a good and happy life,
here and hereafter, his answer was always quite simple, “Follow me!” If it’s so
simple, why do so relatively few ever try it?

Religious Vocation in Ireland

“You can’t sign up to join an organisation if you don’t agree with the procedures in place. It’s like any job. You can’t sign up if it’s going to undermine your integrity and your moral standards/principles. Unlike a corporate company where you finish at 5 O’clock these issues are continually in your head and you are answerable to your boss continually and for the rest of your life. It’s slightly frightening.” 27 year old Ellen theology graduate
